April 17th Sound Transit Open House on route Alts into Dome District VOTE!

Apr 16, 2019

The Dome Business Assoc. had a meeting, as a bigger group, with Sound Transit Monday April 15th and a general vote asked to drop TD1 and the two TD4s that swoop up near the TacomaDome as being on the edge rather the center of the Core. The Dome Business Assoc. (DBA) decided to keep the alignments/stations that were maintaining a tighter connection to the core and to the multimodal center on E.25th St. If they make it through the vetting by the Elected Officials Committee, these are the alignments that will be studied in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), to be done over the next year.

TD2,TD3, and TD4E in-street were the favorites as they impacted the least potentially buildable properties.  The group would like to add the word underground to these, as well as any other that the Elected Officials Committee may move forward, to make sure that undergrounding, though more expensive, will be studied in the EIS process. Undergrounding would obviously have much less negitive effect on the TOD-ness of the District, on private properties and on developers perception of the area and will come out high in the EIS.

The ST LINK is being located in the premier TOD location in Washington State with EVERY mode of wheels and rail transportation within a Stone's throw of each other.

The magic of a TOD is merging Transit and Housing and right here in the Dome District we have what is rapidly becoming a full fledged TOD. But we must continue to attract developers, who will fill our available lots with housing for tenants who support transit by not requiring either a car or parking.

We want to be the most dense walkable neighborhood in the city with affordable housing.

Open House at the Convention Center 4th flr. Wed April 17th 5:30 - 7:30pm  You can vote on the alignment you think works best for the Dome District and Tacoma.    just add underground to it.

If you can't make it, write comments on
